what’s in soulful essence’s botanical essences?

we use only high-quality essential oils and botanicals. our essences are made from botanicals grown without chemical pesticides and fertilizers, GC-MS tested, contain no over-harvested botanical species, and are 100% vegan and cruelty-free. always.

what does ‘GC-MS tested’ mean?

GC-MS is widely known as the ‘gold standard’ in the chemical analysis of essential oils. this extensive third-party testing provides complete confidence that our oils are 100% pure, safe, and authentic. 

how/why should i dilute my botanical essences?

our botanical essences are highly concentrated lipophilic plant extracts, meaning they are attracted to fat. when applied directly to your skin, they can quickly absorb to the fat and cause irritation. this is why it's so important to dilute our essences with a carrier oil when applied topically.

carrier oils are fatty, neutral oils like olive oil, coconut oil, or jojoba oil (that last one is actually a liquid wax, but we won't bore you with the details). using a carrier oil will allow for full and safe absorption into your skin.

how should my botanical essences be stored?

your essences should be stored in closed, glass bottles away from heat and light. while some essences may stay good almost indefinitely under ideal conditions, we recommend two years for most as a rule of thumb.

how long should my botanical essences last?

it depends! based on how frequently you use or diffuse your botanical essences, they can last from 30 to 90 days with individual use. those using at a wider scale (yoga teachers, massage therapists, etc.) may need to restock more frequently.

can i use botanical essences in my food or beverages?

please don’t! our botanical essences are not intended for internal use and we highly discourage ingesting any essential oil, ever!

i can’t find some of my old favorite products. what happened?

if you’ve been with us for a while now, you may find some of our botanical essences have been discontinued or sold under a new name - find pleasure (formerly pure decadence), be here now (formerly meditation station), and find balance (formerly yoga bliss). we have also recently discontinued our mists and roll-ons, but let us know if you’d like to see these available again!
