Are Essential Oils Safe for Pets?
Our furry friends are so important to us and we want to do everything we can to keep them safe. The best place to start is to use common sense when using essential oils around your pets:
- Store essential oils where pets cannot reach them.
- Be sure bottles caps and tops are tightly closed.
- Never use undiluted essential oils on your pets skin.
Essential oils are highly concentrated and a little goes a long way. They should always be diluted before use around pests.
It's true that different plants can have an adverse effect on dogs and cats so it's always best to contact your vet before using any EO on or around them. For a detailed breakdown of what's safe and what's not, check out this article in PopSugar. I'm one of the contributors and there it also contains expert advise from veterinary practitioners.
Probably the best advise when using essential oils around your pet when in doubt, err on the side of caution.
